We got takeout, but eating inside is great. It's well decorated and the staff is friendly and efficient. We get the black bean chicken and the wontons. Always delicious and enough for our family of three.

My husband and I have been loyal visitors of Blue Koi for years, and it's consistently our favorite spot, especially for their Chinese pot roast. We've enjoyed it both with noodles and in noodle soup, and it's always flavorful and comforting. We've also tried their stir fry chicken dishes, chili wontons, and various dumplings--all equally delicious. The calm, welcoming ambiance and excellent service make every visit enjoyable. We discovered this gem through the Triple D show, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who loves Chinese food, especially for the pork shoulder pot roast.

I love Blue Koi! Everything I've gotten here has been delicious and the people are so nice. The eggplant pockets and shrimp dumplings are soooo good. I also love the location they have in leawood; it's bigger than the one on 39th was.

We were greeted as soon as we walked in the door by the sweet hostess. The inside looks very spacious and clean. We got there early around 5:00pm for dinner because we heard they get busy fast! We ordered a few dishes to share. We started off with lettuce wrap and chili wonton to share. Both got great flavors. The wonton was big and stuff with a lot of meat. The chili sauce complimentary it really well. We decided to share wonton noodle soup. And our server was so nice to split it into two bowls for us. Broth was perfect. And noodles were perfectly cooked. The portion was huge! Glad we decided to split it. The waiter was very friendly. I didn't get his name. But he was very attentive. We will be back.

Nice restaurant in a nice area, upscale but casual. I liked the open kitchen and the staff was very friendly, definitely feels like a family business restaurant. Food was delicious and well prepared. Service was good and friendly. We ordered way too much food and the bill was still less than $100 even with drinks. My daughter really enjoyed her Taro bubble tea too.

Please open a location in DC! The sweetest staff and best service! We were immediately greeted and sat despite the weekday lunch rush. Got waters right away and walked through the menu. The ants on a log are a best seller for a reason and I would argue the mushroom and tofu sauce with noodles must be on every table. I wanted those forever. The veggie dumplings are huge and will keep you full. The portions are huge and despite coming hungry we had enough for dinner afterwards. Everyone there was beyond lovely and I wish we could have gone back again!

My friend and I went here for the first time today! We split all the dishes so we could try a bit of everything. The China moon was probably our favorite item. It was ordered as an appetizer and arrived to our table super crispy and hot! The shrimp inside were great. The ants on a tree dish was tasty as well! I would definitely get that again, maybe with rice or a denser noodle. Our server was great and attentive! The dumplings were not our favorite. They were just a little mushy and seemed undercooked. Overall, it was a great experience and we will be back.

I was in KC for work and my mom INSISTED that I make sure I went here. She had seen it on DDD and had been thinking about it since. We headed in and gave it a try. We knew we wanted the chili dumplings. I have only ever had this kind of dumpling steamed but the server said that the most popular way was pan fried. So we went with majority. We also got the firebird noodles with tofu because they made that on the special too. Everything was super good. I would definitely go back and get these dishes again. I think I just prefer chili wontons steamed over fried in general so I would go that route. But again, just super good. Service was fantastic! The server was friendly and attentive.

TL;DR: Blue Koi is still my tip-top go-to for Chinese in KC. If fresh noodles and bold, creative flavors are important, this is your Chinese spot. I don't often update reviews, but feel this one was warranted. We've been back many times since the last, and the most recent was a wonderful example of 5/5 service for a "difficult" table (mostly because of size of party). Our waiter was outstanding, tending to a party of 20, where people came and went. He kept orders straight, refills flowing, and a smile the entire time. The food, cornerestoned by the illustrious FIREBIRD (WITH noodles!!! Don't forget!!), is still top notch. You still MUST get noodles, you still MUST get dumplings, you still MUST get......... okay, you get the gist! Still prone to be a little loud with a weekend crowd, achieving a strong ambiance in a wide-open dining room is tough. But, it's kept to clean standards. Great to see our friends at BK make it through the pendemic times and come out on the other side doing (seemingly) very well! Time has really shown the quality and staying power of this amazing KC institution of Chinese fusion! Food = 5/5 Facility = 4/5 Service = 5/5 Ambiance = 3/5 Value = 3/5
